Today almost every search starts via Google. So it is essential to get your site high in the Google search results. How high your site scores depends on various factors. Fortunately, you can also optimize your website yourself.
We call this SEO or Search Engine Optimization. In this article, I give you eight practical SEO tips. How to get visitors on Your Website; you can apply this yourself to get your site to score higher in Google search results.
WHAT IS SEO?
HOW DOES SEO WORK?
Explained: Google bots must notice your web pages.
- You use the correct keywords on the site
- Ensure you that many other places in your sector link to your website
- Try to use internal links
- Put new exciting content consistently on your website
1. Increase the revelation of website traffic
2. Visitors coming from search engines have a higher conversion
3. It is a boost for your brand awareness
4. Good SEO improves the performance/speed of your website
5. Good SEO improves the user-friendliness of your Website
TIP 1: FOCUS ON ONE KEYWORD PER PAGE
Do not try to target multiple keywords with one article. More Keywords is carrying water to the sea. You can only optimize a page for one keyword. If you want to score for multiple keywords, you create a separate page for each keyword.
TIP 2: PLACE YOUR KEYWORD IN THE FIRST PARAGRAPH
Will find your article more relevant if you place your keyword in the first paragraph or the first 100 words. Note: this does not
mean that you have to put your keyword in your intro as much as possible.
Tip: Your article is more relevant to Google if the keyword is in the first paragraph.
TIP 3: WRITE a MINIMUM of 1000 WORDS
One of the most important factors for Google is the quality of your content. You can still optimize your site like this; if the content is not unusual, you will not score high in Google. Although Google has not defined a minimum length anywhere, it is best to ensure a minimum period of 1000 words. And more is better. I get good results from around 1100 words. But that is for search terms for which there is some competition.
Note that it is essential that the content of your page is also interesting and relevant. Otherwise, your readers will quickly click away, and your site will eventually fall in Google search results.
Another small tip. Divide longer texts into sections of 3 to 5 lines each. That makes the text much more pleasant to read. Also, make use of subtitles every 3 to 5 paragraphs. That way you also bring structure to your page
TIP 4: USE TITLES / SUBTITLES
In addition to writing the best web text on a specific topic, you can also further enrich your content with images and videos.
Images are often excellent visual support for visitors. Some things are better visually than textually explained. Also, models provide variety, which improves legibility.
Videos are excellent support for practical subjects that can be explained better in moving images. Besides, it is suitable for a visitor's time on page: It is an indicator for Google that a customer finds what he is looking for on your website
TIP 5: ADD IMAGES
Be sure always to add an image to a page. Google attaches great importance to this! Also, try to mention your search term here: you can do that for example in the file name of the image (change the name before uploading it to your website).
TIP 6: LINK BUILDING
Ensure internally is linking to your pages. You can, for example, further highlight certain topics on a specific page.
Not only domestic but also external links can improve your SEO. Write to your partners, customers, or relevant websites and let them link to your site.
From your social media channels such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. can you also link to your website?
The goal is to create the online marketing community aware of this significant development, not to provide comprehensive explanations about improving speed. That is why I limit myself to mentioning several things.
- Choose your hosting with care. Cheap shared hosting from right providers works great for small websites
- Optimize images has a lot of effect on speed. You can do it manually with special software or with online tools, such as those from Google itself.
- Apply compression. Many parts of your website can compress.
- Use browser caching.
- Give priority to visible content.
TIP 7: THINK OF MOBILE USERS
Mobile is becoming increasingly essential and vital; more and more people are looking for information via a smartphone or tablet.
It is therefore important that your website is visible on all devices. Is your website not yet mobile-friendly? Mobile is even more critical in 2019, so it's high time to work on it!
Mobile is a ranking factor that you have in your hands. If you do not optimize your website, you will miss out on many opportunities (visitors and potential customers).
TIP 8: UPDATE BLOG MESSAGES REGULARLY
If you have some popular blog posts, don't forget to update them regularly. Updating can include:
For example, in a particular article, you discuss which tools are available on the market, and if a new device comes out, you can add this new tool.
If a part of your article is no longer relevant or outdated, you can change that.
By keeping your old blog posts up-to-date, you increase the chance that they will be higher in Google OR stay at the top of Google for longer.
